This a chart provided by IDEXX. We would like to minimize misses by using progesterone testing to determine ideal breeding days.
Below 1.0ng/ml -
1.0 to 2.0 ng/ml -
2.0 to 4.9 ng/ml -
5.0 ng/ml -
5 to 6 ng/ml -
6 to 11 ng/ml -
11 to 19 ng/ml -
OVER 19 ng/ml -
No ovarian activity. ACTION: Test every 3 or 4 days
Rise indicates active ovary. ACTION: Test in 2 or 3 days
Active ovary. ACTION: Test every 24 hours until you reach 5.0
OVULATION
ACTION: Breed in 2 to 3 days
ACTION: Breed in 1 to 2 days
ACTION: BREED TODAY
ACTION: BREED IMMEDIATELY - if vaginal smear is okay and bitch is still receptive. This is considered LATE if you still have to ship semen. Hope for the best!
